Minutiae

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

A meadow of melon-yellow rape,
and a day-time moon –
lolling, lazily on its back...

mop-capped peonies
sated with midnight rain, shyly,
hide their faces

a blush-cheeked dawn
frowns down on the pouting
mouths of rag-torn clouds

a patchwork of fields
sags with the weight of liquid gold –
shimmering in the wind.

Lodged...midway between
a headboard and a dream, changes
my perception of things

as he wakes me with his crying...
a milky yawn, and a yell – bigger
than he is...

That last stanza pretty much pulls everything that precedes into sharp focus - a potpourri of beautiful thoughts and sentiments.

descriptive as always Tina, I love that fourth stanza:-

a patchwork of fields
sags with the weight of liquid gold -
shimmering in the wind.

I could really see that rape covering the ground.

Simply beautiful.

Jenny.

Hi there, Jenny;-)

The farmer in the field which adjoins my garden planted rape this year, and it was a nice change from the cereal crops or beans that he usually sows. It looked so spectacular in the sunshine, but now has past its best, and is waiting to be harvested. Only trouble is that it gave both my husband and me 'the sneezes';-)

Pleased you enjoyed this one, and many thanks for telling me.
