A Moment in Time

from the ABC set Silver Spun Sand Poems

Tumbling through
my kitchen window –
the early morning sun
seducing
every inch of me

like a long-lost flame
springing to life...
coming back
as the prodigal one...

reminding me
of an afternoon
hanging out
after school

I was ten –
you were twelve,
and you lost
your contact lens
and I found it.

‘Magic!’ you said.
And I know
what you meant;
right there...
right that moment

would’ve given
anything
for you to lay me
gently
in your pocket...
take me home.

new Silver-Spun-Sand
Well deserved cherry!
Full of young love's memories.
And the contact lenses.
Someone I knew lost his lenses,
searching,on the floor, I'd hardly
knew what they looked like.

There's a lovely gentleness to this poem, really enjoyed it, especially the early morning sun tumbling through the window; lovely image :)

Hi there, Julie. Pleased you enjoyed...and that was the first time I ever knew what they looked like as well. But we live and learn, as they say;-)

Just gorgeous, Tina, and kind of different to what you normally do. Like everyone else has said, the ending is terrific!

Hi there, Mark...I always feel as if I should shout, seeing as you're so far away, but I trust you can hear me;-)

Much appreciate your words, and hope you're having a good week.

I can only add my voice to the chorus, very sweet, ah, young love!

Silver Spun Sand | June 15, 2011 - 09:43

And thank you for that voice, shoe...and as for young love...so very sweet, if I can remember back that far;-)

Exquisite - why do we find such beauty in our early memories?

Silver Spun Sand | June 16, 2011 - 07:49

David - thanks so very much for reading. And yes, you are right, we do find early memories fascinating, and strangely touching. The way of the world, I guess;-)

A very touching and generally a very pleasant poem to read. Its length is perfect for the subject. Well done.
