The view was splendid.
Black- and redcurrant bushes,
raspberries,
a plum tree, a pear tree and an apple,
a small wooden shed with a tin roof
which served as a
horse stable
and a cherry tree.
All this I could see
while sitting
with the door open
on the backyard loo
In Spring
the blossoms showered
their dainty petals
on the fresh green grass.
The bees would hover
above every single flower,
laden with pollen.
late summer
We would pick
the cherries and hang them
on our ears as earrings.
We had to take care when
biting into them
that we didn’t
get stung by a wasp.
Oh ! How we loved the morellos
the ruby red ones
and the bright red cherries.
We could hardly wait until they grew
ripe and ready for the bite.
Sometimes the children
would pick the green cherries
and get a tummyache
They would climb to the highest limb
in their quest
for the wonderful fruit
and come down again all covered
in red cherry juice
with tongues all purple from the
sweet taste of cherries
The sweet taste of cherries

I like all of this, full of

and galvanised tin roof,one brother
of four,was a clown,jumped on it collasped.

Hi Pia,
cannot believe I nearly missed this one, it brings
back childhood memories of long, hot lazy days, of
children doing what comes naturally, without a care
in the world.
Lovely artistic picture you paint with the colours
of the cherries.
Thankyou for a great read.
