bright as a mirror
as the sea's calm surface
as the sunshine's reflection
as this piece of paper for weeks on end
tousled hair
looking like a bird's nest
a la "Tenderness"
brain clogged with creeds
which led nowhere
all doubts were dubious
darkness was broken again and again
everything faded away
only to reappear
guilt pounded on Hell's door
but the devil heard nothing
courage failed
and returned again and again
faith embracing
faith in you
praying for you to notice

Thanks eds for the cherry. I was getting a bit worried but I think I am finding a writing style now. I think so. I hope so. Just love all those adjectives but am not too happy if it all gets a bit too subjective- don't like the I's much so am going to try to avoid them in the future. Anyway thank you again. Yes, a really lovely poem. I particularly like the way it's not specific about the reference or focus of the images and the way it can then focus on a feeling, a range of feelings - so, reference is not important, in that one knows where it is and where it takes one and holds one as one reads it, emotionally. Strong and delicate.
