I’m on the other side now
But really there are 4 sides
4 angles
4 corners of the world
But I do try to stand at each angle
Looking in through the frosted pane
Can be difficult
Mostly I can’t see
But I certainly can hear
I am listening, soaking up all the news
Like a sponge
My eyes see the same things as ever
But my ears…
I take it all in
Wonder, am horrified, question, become annoyed, tired
Of the same boring, stupid, dumb remarks
The hiccups
Am intolerant of the incompetence
Try to make sense of it
Then I grieve for those struck by a harsh fate
And count my blessings when I learn of these truths
Have a mind that seems to be clear and functioning
As long as it lasts
Still counting my blessings
Yet another year turned over and quietly gone by
In my world
But all that I hear and don’t see isn’t so silent
Or calm
Please dear God keep us safe and happy
One year at a time
Is that too much to ask?
Well I wouldn’t be able to tell the future, would I?
Maybe one minute at a time
Is that enough?
In the east, west, north and south
Have to take in every angle,
Every corner, each side of the facts,
The philosophies, the theories,
The fortune telling
Pretty damn joyful,
Isn’t it!

Much written, here, Pia. I have read it a couple or three times now, and get more from it each time.
Just a tiny point...I think and errant 'u' has crept into your sponge, in line eleven;-)
Life sure is a intricate web, as is your poem. One of my firm favourites of yours.
Tina;-)

There's so much meaning in this piece of writing Pia,
it's almost like you're sorting things out in your
mind, putting each situation in to its own box.
Like you say, we have to take each year as it comes,
with all its ups and downs, never really knowing
what's around the corner, but that's the beauty of
life, which is what you write so well.
Jenny.

Hi sweet Tina
I am so glad you got so much from this poem. Thank you very much for telling me. Really pleased to know it is one of your favourites of mine. I think I will scan yours and see which one is my favourite. It will be hard to choose though I know.
