Dank, dark and drizzly
this November afternoon;
I break off from my scribbling
and look out my window
at the moor – thin, ribbons
of mist haphazardly rise
from a far-flung stream.
Reminds me of my half-smoked
cigarette, smouldering in an ashtray;
memory, not so hot, not these days.
Brush some wayward wisps
of grey from my eyes
and the curtain lifts
as silent as time.

Hi Tina,
I love the lines thin, ribbons of mist haphazardly
rise from a far-flung stream, in connection with.
Reminds me of my half-smoked cigarette, smouldering
in an ashtray, what an imagination you have.
Simply beautiful. Congratulations on the cherries.

'Concise' is exactly what I have problems with, as you know';-) but it seems to have worked in this case at least.
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for telling me;-)

I want to leave a comment too. Captures the November mood very well Tina- like the part about the curtain lifting as silent as time. Very well done. Hope you didn't sit with an open window you may catch a cold!!!
cheers
Pia ;)

Great time for scribbling :) novembre, here a cold clear day today though! Your last four lines are best for me, I liked the whole thing K xx
Silver Spun Sand | November 11, 2010 - 08:40
And it is certainly 'scribbling' weather again today, Kahdai, raining, as it is, 'cats and dogs'.
Thanks for reading and glad you enjoyed;-)

I like that saying, it would be funny, all the lonly people could scoop up a cat or dog, take it in warm and dry and feed it :) K
