This Day
Making sense of it all? The disappearance of the revenant from the ashes, you return, rise like curl.
As smoke signals, from the day you left.
Shedding skin like a broken leaf, softly the night fades.
Departing, where do they go? On a long journey to nowhere, with those fleeting moments drawing memories that wisp alone, along the waterfront, images of tossed Ashes. Yet you rise like a moth to a flame close to me. When we once chased graffiti on railroad trains and abandoned buildings filled with skeletons of nameless faces, in full momentum, tagging and graffitiing sprayed, masking all structures, defacing and replacing characters on the surrounding pavement.
By a silent afterthought. These are isolated incidents.
But our trademark interconnection with every empty street at night, where once those long goodbyes slowed time down at a standstill, shelters there in silence waiting for the arrival of another train.
At Lindbergh’s abandoned railroad crossing, for a peculiar guest: as the soft air passed with an approaching breeze, listening as she spoke to us, we held still in broken seams before you go.
Today is ours, let's just be! When we talked for hours.
Meantime, let’s do something fun, beautiful, and play a game before the night fades. With this Reese's peanut butter cup we share, take one with you, and no looking back, or we’ll be frozen in time, detached from reality. I can feel you leaving me, for heaven.
Why did you leave me? In this space, here with these memories? A ghostly reminder.
You’re gone before I knew it!
