ABCtales June Newsletter

Dear ABCtalers,

It's getting busier and busier in ABCland and our new partnership with www.booktribes.com is going really well. More on that later.

First of all I would like to flag up to you all the wonderful Brighton event on Saturday June 23rd. It's upstairs at the Western Front public house (just off Churchill Square) and starts at 6.30 p.m. A whole host of ABC regulars will be there and I can guarantee you a night of superb prose and poetry. If you are anywhere near and fancy a night out, then this is the one to come along to. Or why not try a weekend by the seaside and come down to sunny Brighton? The venue is convenient for the station and we're starting early so that those who want to get home by train can do so. poetjude has produced a lovely flyer. If you can download a few and post them up in appropriate places then it would be much appreciated. Go to: http://www.judesworld.net/abcbrighton.htm for your downloadable copy.

Next on my agenda is a repeat call to anyone who hasn't yet registered with Booktribes. It is free and the recommendations you get are really beginning to work (the more of us that contribute, the better it gets). You put in 20 books you've read and the clever computer works out by comparing your tastes with those of others a set of books you might like to read. Just go to http://www.booktribes.com and log in. You can use your ABCtales username with @abctales.com at the end and then use your ABCtales password. It cuts out all the registration hassle. Booktribes keeps you up to date with all the news from the literary world, it gives you ample opportunities to win great new books and it creates the virtuous circle in our community of literature.

On ABCtales itself we've had a plethora of great writing recently. Just take a look at the Stories and Poems of the Week on the Home Page. The very latest cherrypicked is always a good place to start:

I could go on and on - but it's best if you just join in and keep up with events. Don't forget the ever fabulous/ridiculous forums. I think that writers all contributing to a General Discussion Forum is one of the most sure-fire recipes for hilarity, argument, dispute and very good jokes - so if you haven't joined in before then why not try it out?

Have a wonderful summer, good luck to those taking exams and keep in touch.

Yours,
Tony Cook and the ABCtales team
