Too many new writers!

Avoid buying hefty guides! Try typing in "too many new writers" into Google (using the inverted commas,) and harvest a list of all the possible pitfalls you could fall into. I'm particularly grateful for the following sage warning:

"Too many new writers worry about what they have to do to get free trips. What they
should worry about is getting published."

That's set me straight!

National Statistics for Alcohol/Drug Related Deaths.

I don't know where else to go, for information. Having just spoken to my tenant support worker from The Alcohol Recovery Project, she tells me that for all of Camden (Largest Borough in the country) there are ten social workers for drug addicts in the borough and just One for alcoholics. Now I remember reading somewhere that pro rata the death rate for alcoholics was 100 to 1 in favour (sic) of alcoholics. My experience in Oxford was the same. In the drug/alcohol project I attended the main focus was on drug addiction.

Can we not have 'The Most Recent Stories' back again?

The Cricket

Rain will play a big part in this match. We should have started the series earliar. Those one day games and TV money are important but not as important as this.

Freddie and Peterson have got to get right amongst them in the morning. They have got to go after Tate, make him lose his confidence. It's a good batting pitch in good weather but speeds up with a bit of moisture. Showers are predicted on Saturday and lets when the Ossies should be in the crease if all goes well tomorrow.

But anything could happen in this brilliant series. We could be all out by lunch..

More Donations Wanted

This is national Organ Donor week. So if you're too hard up to make a cash donation to ABC, how about giving a little of yourself to others? If you think carefully you should be able to find an organ or two that you don't use much. Arsenal fans, try the head area, Catholic Priests, try looking lower down. I'm sure that between us we could find enough parts to make several complete people, or at least a good casserole.

Details of how to give are on the BBC website.
