Radiohead

Just about to copy their new cd All Hail To the Thief, due out in June, for a friends son, hoping he hasnt managed to get hold of it yet.
Has anyone else, and if so, what do you think? Contrived experimental tat, or brilliance?

The new CD is very very solid, but for me, it's no Kid A, nor OK Computer, which I felt were their masterpieces. I often have a hard time deciding which of those two I like better. For me, though, "Hail to the Thief" is now my 3rd fave, jumping ahead of Amnesiac and the Bends, with Pablo Honey rounding out the bottom (though last, Pablo Honey is still better than 95% of the music out there).

The Bends was brilliant, OK Computer was one of those albums that arrived at a significant time for me and so always brings back great memories. I thought Kid A was pretentious shite and f**king awful to listen to. Haven't heard All Hail' yet so can't comment.

Im with choose here.... all the way. All Hail has a couple of goodies, but apart from that... Well. I wont be listening again anytime soon.

The Bends was brilliant. Ok Computer similarly lovely. Amnesiac has great moments. Pablo Honey has Creep. Kid A was better live.

I didn't think Kid A was pretentious at all... and I'm usually a stickler for that sort of thing. I thought it was emotive and fabulous... but that's just me. :)

I bought the bends before I heard a single track, on the strength of a review, where the journo was so blown away. I loved Creep anyway.. I got the Bends, was duly blown away, got Pablo, liked it.. got Ok Comp, liked it a LOT... care little for the other.. and much as i like Creep, Chrissie Hynde actually does it better. But then Suede do her Brass in Pocket better, so fairs fair..
