Excellent! Quite an achievement, and all in the family, too.
I heard everyone's were nine inches apart.
And if you like the word 'emboldened' Alison, how about the word 'empurple'? Which means, to make something purple. How come colouring in purple gets its own verb and none of the other colours do? There's no emorange.
You guys have me curious now. Excuse me whilst I run downstairs and find a 'nipple gauge'...
Ok, having measured I have come to two conclusions.
Firstly that I may be a freak, as mine are 10.5" apart.
Secondly that women have all the advantages in the nipple dept, as with them they are a movable feast, and the bigger the tits, the more moveable the feast.
I expect they have a ruler in the lab, but I think I'll wait till I get home.
I am resisting temptation.
Oh go on Liana, you know you want to.
(All women will be obliged to give maximum and minimum measurements, though I guess that nearly all women will have a minimum of zero)
Men with sensitive nipples are a fascination, are they not?
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
"This weblog is by Alison, who is a skint single parent from Leicestershire whose job involves teaching murderers to spell."
Brilliant!!!!
You'll lead a sheltered life, george.
Clever fish.
And Big Congrats, I can't think of anyone better to give us coverage!!!
Can we measure in Agates?
Congrats, Fish! Loved your first entry - never would have thought meditation was your thing anyway, you're far too sociable.
Women and madness in 14th century Czech folklore? I wonder who inspired that particular line?
Congratulations Alison, what a cool thing to be doing. And I hadn't thought that your 'work colleagues' are one of the few people who are entitled to be apathetic about the election, as opposed to my fierce deliberate apathy because I'm desperately hoping for the lowest turnout ever.
Nice blog, by the way. Well done, chick!
You do it in your own home like everyone else, Denver.
cor thanks everyone ....
oh ... i forgot to say ...
look also at no. 8 ....
fan bloody tastic stuff Fish.
a toot toot and a hey diddley ho all round I think. It's a great read too and should soon be inundated with reader comments of a very approving nature (especially from those of us on here who wish to show solidarity and get this blog seen as just the best bit of writing recruitment since Mcartney handed Lennon a pen and said, "d'yous wanna go der lar?")
... that's if you want us to 'big up' via the comments bit on the website of course, you may not wish that to happen at all so I'll hold back from gushing for now (never easy for a guy) until I know it's ok to do so.

Yes... I am impressed that BOTH of you got into the last 8.
Clever things.
oh yes please inundate blogs 1 and 8 with lots of super comments ...
tra la laaaa ...
you can't get into this house for the egos jostling like overstuffed blimps ...
whoopee woo
Actually, I now believe that the 'fact' I recall is that all women's nipples are nine inches apart. Like you, George, I believed that the variables involved make this unlikely, but it does seem to be the case. I have a very subtle measuring device that can be laid betwixt them *he lies unconvincingly*
The measuring has to be done standing up, with no pushing together (unless there are to be photographs, in which case, push all you like)
Oh wow, do you get to meet John Humphry's?
and John (person sitting next to me) asks: can we get an RSS feed for it?
Smashing!
imagine that ... frolicking on the today webcam with those today chaps ...
will wave to abc land ... and hold my abctales mug aloft ...
hahahah ...
i didnt realise my innocent blog would stir such a hornets' nest of perversity ...
Great stuff Fishy. If Alistair Cook could make "Letter from America" last 50 years I'm sure you can make "Blog from Murky" into an institution.
I'm just registering with the beeb so I can fawn slavishly on the comments page.
As soon as I read your blog, fish, I knew you were on the path to stardom...am sending links to all and sundry now...am just envisaging all your heads stuck in doorways...but don't let it stop you coming to our humble abctales event in London will you??
xxx
dan ... have asked about RSS feed ...
Ha! Excellent.
Out of interest, what did you have to submit, if anything, to become a blogger?
When is Bert going to write his second entry ... I really enjoyed his first.
I'm glad I proof read (sometimes) before clicking 'post' and would like to clarify that I was referring to his blog and not a double-entendre from Derby 1.
Innocence is not a word that comes readily to mind when considering you, fishy.
Strangely heart-warming.
Champion. Well done you two.
Glad to hear you toot at last. Marvellous.
>>there was a right competitive furore in this house<,
Hahahaha! Yes, When I first saw this thread I wondered what would have happened if only one of you had made it.
Do R4 know you are together? That's a story in itself isn't it? What are the odds on that?
Three questions in a row... that must break some rule? (4)
Anyway, good stuff, keep it up you two.
x
Well done you two... it will be fun picking out bits that overlay, jigsawlike, in your blogs as you go along. You could play a good game with this!
Hmmmm.. Fish what do you think of the Shadow Chanceller then... I actually quite like him for a Tory. He is sort of cuddly I think... as for whether his sums add up, perhaps you could say now that you are all political.
Interestingly enough, fish, I feel exactly as you describe in your blog about Tony Blair - I was suspicious about him from the very start and almost disowned my Dad who joined the party when he was elected, but happily has resigned his membership not too long ago, phew. I put it down to the fact that they had a candidate renting a room in their house at the time and he was under the influence. (deliberately ambiguous sentence).
glad you liked it storms ...
bert's done his second entry - saucy ... we are waiting for the next ones to be posted ... it seems they dont put them up at the weekend ...
we had to submit 100 word application ... these were longlisted and we had to send a sample blog ... these were shortlisted to 10 and we had to send another blog for final choice ...
there was a right competitive furore in this house ... particularly as bert got his email saying he was selected the night before i got mine ... i was quite relieved i hadnt got it at first and then found i had ... eeek ...
we have updates storms ...
bert's is
mine http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/election/weblog_alison.shtml>
thanks drew.
i agree about teachers being more important than facilities, but that's another reason why choice isn't in itself a good thing - how are parents to measure the teachers?
we did choose the local school, but the process of it all made me cross for the reasons i said
fair point about fields...at my school they were mostly used for fighting, smoking and eating chips
Congrats, I enjoyed them both very much.
Robert, in my opinion the teachers at the school are more important than the facilities - depending on the reputation I'd choose the nearer school for all the reasons you say. And having taught, things like language labs are pretty crap, just an excuse for teachers not to do any work for an hour. As for fields, who wants to run round one anyway?
brilliant stuff...well done
I'll probably regret this post one day:
Having read Fish's election blog I have, in the last few minutes, flicked my nipples into erection and measured the distance between.
As a surveyor, I can confirm my results to be extremely accurate:
22cm or just over 8 and a half inches.
Sorry Dan.
Well that really confused me for a moment there.
