dekuji and ahoj
Dear All
The party was FAB, both Marty and I had a great time... thanks to everyone for making him feel so welcome... and pushing the metaphorical boat out for me...
we all got terribly drunk, read poetry on the terrace, ate bramborak, drank slivovice and boogied in the living room...
and thanks to everyone who sent their good wishes...
this is my last post, am off to do packing and so on, but i hope to be online soon in Prague to restart the diaries...
love to everyone, big snogs etc (biggest one for my hoxy)
have received text from the Intrepid Liana ... she has reached dover without major incident ...
*strips off jumper and sips another pivo*
marty says hi all...
here is message I received from Liana at 17.03:
"we are completely lost at ferry terminal ... row no 30 ... no info ...do we have to access customs?"
1 minute later I received the same message again followed by:
"... or sth? wtf do we do?"
This did not surprise me at all. After all, who was it that managed to leave my house on Friday, airily waving away my instructions not to take the first right back on to the A14 with "oh, it will be signposted midlands, north etc ... stop worrying storms, you sound like my Dad"
I found out on Saturday that she and Martin almost made it to Cambridge before they realised they had done exactly what I was worried about.
I spent today thinking it will be a miracle if they make Prague without going via Spain when the message came in.
Pissing myself laffing I rang the fraught dear. She was in hysterics of laughter. "we are the only ones here fer christ's sake! ... all alone in row 30!" I imagined at this point they must have somehow sneaked into the port and had parked in whatever lane fancied them. "have you a dangly thing from your rear view mirror that says row 30?" I asked.
"yes, they gave us that at check in"
"and there is no one else there?"
"nope, just us"
me "what time is ferry?"
"2 more hours!"
After a while we agreed that perhaps they were a tad early and it would be sure to fill up soon and no, you don't have to go through customs or sth. and yes, a man will be along to tell where to drive and no, you will not have to fight for a space and yes, it is easy to drive and park onto a ferry (I was slightly economical with the truth there ... have seen so many cock it up before).
We had a laugh about the party and mused over the identity of those involved in missi's romance comment before saying farewell and bon voyage.
ahhh.
i had a text from her mid channel saying she was morphing into joan crawford ...
*sits out on balcony in 24oC sunshine, with laptop, fresh cool beer and a smug look*
Oh ye of little faith Storms.... diary updates soon...
Well done, L.
*envious*
oh my gawd ... the eagle has landed ...
So how many european countries are now at war with us?
She was heading for Cambridge???
*gets out fake mustache again*
Glad you all made it. Look forward to diaries :)
iceman
Glad you got there safely. Miss you.
Aha! It's Joan! You remembered to go straight on at the German roundabout then?
Deeply envious, it has been one of the gloomiest, wet and cold, July days I can remember in a long time.
Oh well, roll on Aug 3rd (I will be turning right at Paris and will not be stopping until it is warm)
glad you made it safely.
Bon voyage, Liana! Sorry I couldn't make it, sounds like I missed a belter. Have the muchest fun in Prague, don't be a stranger y'hear?
late ps:
i disocovered whilst bathing the kids that two youngest have chickenpox.......
*tears hair out*
i had a great evening ... but this wasnt it ...
ooooh no ... i had a fabulous time ...
and here is a quiz for you all:
1. who presented liana with a travel first aid kit containing cotton wool, miniature bottles of voddie and lipsticks?
2. who fell into the clematis??
3. who performed Stunt Poetry without the poetry?
4. who was sick in my toilet and had to be poured into a taxi?
5. who talked the most?
they were all you?
you got into the taxi as you'd forgotten you were at home?
sounds like you all had a great time anyway!!
Farewell, Liana. Safe journey.
Hope the weather is treating you better than it is me!
*throws another log on the fire*
It was certainly an eye opener. I hadn't realised how dangerous poetry reading can be.
lethal storms ... it can be lethal ...
I'm sad at having missed it and not meeting those faces as yet unknown to me.
Have a safe journey Liana and get 'plugged in' as soon as possible.
can someone write a diary of the event for those of us who couln't make it? Pleeeeease!
oh MUST i??????
Yes fish - minute by minute - please
ah ... cant seem to upload ...
you might try downloading a pti converter and then recaching your pages using that. a whizzywot will help you with this.
did the trick for me.
oh chant ... you sure know how to win over a girl ... i will take your advice immediately ...
actually i was hoping not to have to write this diary ...
This sound interesting - Fish - why?
will now HAVE to go and read it - of course you will use you story telling abilities to the full - wont you! - no telling the truth or should that be we want the truth and nothing but the truth - but you can leave out the blood and gory bits !
