ABCtales Christmas Newsletter
A very Merry Christmas and a Cracking New Year to all ABCtalers!
A lot to tell you about as we come up to the end of another year.
First of all, and most importantly, we are holding a long overdue ABCtales evening called 'Upstairs at ABCtales' on January 12th in London. It's Upstairs at The Wheatsheaf, 25 Rathbone Place, Fitzrovia, London W1T 1DG. Closest tube Tottenham Court Road.
7pm start till around 9.15pm.
£4 entry or £2 concessions/unemployed (at the door).
All profits to go to Railway Children, a charity for runaway children in the UK and India.
There are a number of reading spots still available so if any of you would like to read your material then email me, tcook@abctales.com, just as quickly as you can.
We do hope to have a good turnout so please please put it in your shiny new diary now!
Our plans to start a small publishing business - putting out the best of your books - is going ahead but has been delayed slightly by bereavment. We hope to have our first book out by February at the latest. The next two should follow in the spring.
We are putting out a daily reading recommendation on Twitter and Facebook. Do join us - and get your friends and relations to do the same. Just sign up on Twitter @tcookabctales or on Facebook at ABCtales.com. We like responses to the stories we put out so please do leave us your opinion.
Story and Poem of the Year will be announced between Christmas and New Year - if you have a favourite then please let me know - again at tcook@abctales.com
The standard of writing on the site continues to amaze me and I'm so pleased when members get published. If that is you then do let me have a review copy and, if possible, give a little plug to ABCtales in the acknowledgements. It all helps! Joe Dunthorne's wonderful 'Submarine' has been made into a major film which will be out next year. Make every effort to see it. The book started life as a short story on ABCtales and it was the reaction of members that prompted Joe to turn it into a novel.
We hope you have a wonderful festive season and hope to see as many of you as possible on the 12th.
All the very best to you all,
Tony Cook and the team.
