ABCtales Newsletter - 3 big pieces of news!
Dear ABCtalers,
Three major things to announce today so hold on to your hats!
ABCTALES AND UNBOUND LAUNCH JENNIFER PICKUP’S UNBELIEVABLE
Many of you will know the work of Jennifer on ABCtales. She has been a long term member and has served her time as an Editor. She wrote her first novel, Unbelievable, on the site and it received a rapturous reception.
Tony Cook met up with the Unbound team earlier this Summer and they introduced their ‘crowd funding’ process to him. Unbound had sought out ABCtales as their ideal partner and, after due consideration, we agreed to work with them. Basically they select an author and if that writer receives sufficient supporters on the Unbound site then their book is published – with all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a major publisher i.e. a professional Editor and a full Marketing and Publicity team. ABCtales benefits as we are deemed to be your agents and we receive a fee from each copy sold once the money is raised – but that comes from the Unbound cut of the deal and not from the authors. The great benefit for you, as the potential author, is that you receive far higher royalties than you would from a conventional publisher - 50% of profits!
If this works then we will be providers of many more authors for Unbound. So please try and support Jennifer with as much money as you can. You do get something back! Go to her section of their site for full details:

ABCTALES EVENING IN LONDON ON SEPTEMBER 21ST
We have a great line-up already for our next evening at The Wheatsheaf. Jennifer Pickup will be there, as will the WilkyBarKid, Lavadis, Maggyvaneijk, Bukharinwasmyfavouritecommunist (aka David Floyd – one of the most lauded members of the London poetry scene and very funny to boot), and the wonderful Beeme.
We do have spaces for three more readers so email me at tcook@abctales.com if you want to read. Preference will be given to those that have not read before.
We start at 7pm and should finish by 9.30pm. We are upstairs at The Wheatsheaf, 25, Rathbone Place London W1T 1DG.
It will be our usual mix of wonderful readings of poetry and prose from ABCtales members.
Entry is £5, £2 concessions with all profits going to The Railway Children charity.
Do try to come along – and bring some friends. There’s room for all.
