Read this yesterday and we think alike... The only difference being that I am somewhat distanced from it - now living in the US.

no tanks. I go to europe every year to absorb the flavour and differences of culture. It needs to stay that way. Every major town in this country now looks the same with bland architecture and unimaginative 'architect' designed identical tin sheds and neo-gothic-leaded-light-bovis-boxes proliferating faster than the sub-continents nuclear arsenals. There's no shops left. "oh can I have a pound of estate agents please, 2 slices of video shop and a mobile phone to go ta" The Euro is the first step in ensuring that my kids will see Europe in the same way. And their kids will not be moaning about Brussels..... it will be the latest directive from the Tesco Totalitarian Community that annoys them!
