Audio Treat ...
melfish is a member of abctales ... have a little listen and see what you think ...
[%sig%]
no. the one fsh linked above wont work for me. it launched mmjb not windows media player - but then i hate windows media player and have probably disabled it at some point.
I've never heard of mmjb. What is it? I would think quicktime would also work if you set it as your default. I rather like WMP. It has improved a lot in the past couple of years. It even does a good job of ripping CDs to mp3.
music match jukebox - it looks a bit flashy, but it does everything you need... including ripping to mp3. Last time i used wmp, it distorted the sound so badly i thought that there was something wrong with the speakers - it was only when i switched back to old faithful that i realised they were fine, and it was wmp that was at fault.
www.mmjb.com (i think)
HA!!! Finally I got to hear her music. I recall that old web site from which I was never able to download the sample.
So, here goes:
Beautiful voices, for sure. Generally excellent production values--ie, it sounds like someone knew what they were doing when they recorded this.
Of the twelve songs, only two were to my taste:
No Fear
Spin Out
The other ten sounded very similar to each other. Nice voices and all that, but nothing special. Of course, I might not be their intended audience. The two I liked had much more energy and umph. Umph is important. I like umph.
There a hint of Debbie Harry in there somewhere. I would suggest they emphasize that aspect, add some umph, and do a better job of matching the lyrics to the music. Some of it seemed like a forced match.
OTOH, I suspect that their intended audience might have exactly the opposite reaction.
Even with all my caveats, they are better than many similar groups who appear on the TV talk shows.
I cant get them to play either - seems MMJB doesnt like the file. However, having made 30 copies of melfish's demo for her years and years ago, as I remember she was very aimee mann, and VERY good. I shall buy the cd.
bleedin terrible. lol. sorry.
Liana, do you mean you can't get the new web site to play? It worked fine for me, auto launching Windows Media Player. It was the old web site I couldn't get to work. This one is fine.
