Nicotine 6/Friends Reunited 2

I adore liplash's work particularly this piece. It draws on two previous poems in the series and makes excellent use of the dual meaning. Totally unpretentious and evocative.

who hasn't looked up old flames on friends reunited. I liked this, though 'party corner' i found a strange term? Juliet

Juliet

I started this off as a love poem and then realised it how easy it would be to turn it into a the final poem in my nicotine series. Idea of being tempted to take up smoking again like an old lover and it was easy (and I 'm always suspicious if things seem easy). But I'm very fond of this one. Party corner - idea of being wrapped up secretly in the corner together - just remembering how wonderful it felt to be so taken up with someone (when a teenager)

Wasn't so fond tbh. Starting with a list of love-poem clichés is very ballsy, but I'm not sure it pays off -- at least for me. Maybe I'm in the minority (I do tend to be).

My blog:

I loved the idea of the 'party corner' it is alluding to exclusivity of desire and the secluson of others (almost conspiratorially) - can't think why you didn't get it Juliet *LOL* - I think anyway, but what do I know???? I find some thing honest in liplash's work. I personally like the simplicity of a poem - this can offer easy entry into some thing that has far greater meaning ( some times transpiring not to be so simple - tohughperhpas not in this case). There is a slight element of cliche I suppose, but knowing the other two pieces as I do (nicotine and friends reunited) I found this forgivable ( they weren't THAT cliched reallly). It is better to grasp the meaning than get bogged down with the words. Itisn't herbest but it is a good opening to her other work - check it out..
