Irrelevance of TV
TV exists as an entertainment medium, pandering to the LCD of people's hopes and fears. I rung up a payline in the hope that by ringing in and saying FIREMAN I might be selected to win £1500.
TANSTAAFL
Needless to say I was unsuccessful.
People need TV. Without TV, cable, satellite they might have to actually read a book or talk.
Why TV? Is Radio a better medium? Or do we watch the idiot box in the hope we can waste more of our lives staring at images of escapism?
The radio beats the telly hands down, in my humble opinion...in fact, the large plasma screen purchased by Mrs Bob no 3 after our sham marriage has now been donated to a Come-to-Piddle retirement home. My new uncrackly digital radio takes pride of place next to my comfy chair where I listen to Book at Bedtime, the shipping forecast, Composer of the week, Midland Masala, Gardening Today...the radio plays are a bit of a disappointment though...stilted and staged...Fave music programme just now: Helen Mayhew, Sun morning 1-4am. Three hours of the best in jazz-funk-soul. And Helen's voice is like the sweetest of sweet nectar...
