Ridiculously Cheap DVD player!

Browsing through Amazon.co.uk I found this today:

It's a multi region DVD player for £29.99! Postage and Packaging is free!

It seems like a bargain to me. You buy a DVD player for cheaper than 'off a bloke in the pub' price, ABCtales gets some dosh, everyone's a winner as far I can see.

Good lord, I never thought I'd become the writing website equivilent of Del Trotter.

you have to specify free delivery btw, it's not automatic, it takes 5-7 days rather than a day or two....

Martin, your region 1 player can almost certainly be re-programmed to multi-region. This is usually done by finding the key sequence on the web and using your handset. I bought my machine from a company in Peterborough who re-set them to region free before sale. I also paid a bit extra to have the macrovision disabled. This allows me to dub any DVD onto a VHS tape without the usual spoiler crap rendering the recording unwatchable.

comet don't give abc any money though missi.... not sure what you meant by my region 1 player, i haven't got a region 1 player, i guess i could play a region 1 on my dvd player on the pc, but i like to watch films from the comfort of my sofa.....and region 1 doesn't seem to play on my playstation, i'm sure i could do something about that...but son't need to now...

I think missippi thought you meant you'd bought a region 1 PLAYER on ebay, Martin. Playing region 1 dvds on PS2 or X-box requires the player to be chipped...unlike bespoke DVD players, you can't get round it by using the special codes on the remote.
