Does this poem work?

He comes a travelin'
a southern rider
making electric haste through the wintry air
calling with secrets for me
Through lines they come
dark, black, deep
His hellos
are no stranger to me
I know what to expect as the ring unfolds
Rider persists
through all bouts of weather
no turmoil is too tough
he'll not turn around
once a sender
always a deliver
he's a regularly knocker
rider sort of fellow
who comes a knock knock knockin
on my heart
His secret messages have danced across interconnected wires
together it comes my way
I know as the phone goes to ring
It's here when
I get familiar words
From my favorite line rider
