Help! is correct and it was produced by one of my oldest friends, Jane Berthoud, who is cock-a-hoop this morning. She's done a lot of 'cutting edge' stuff - mainly on radio - but had a flop with 'World of Pub' when it came over to TV so she really needed this one to work. I thought it was brave in those circumstances to go with something very different that mixes comedy with pathos, that allows the time for the comedy to breathe and that gives the writers the space to develop character (something they hadn't been allowed to do in the Fast Show). It's a gem - if you missed it then make sure you are in next Sunday evening.

That would be Monty the cabbie. I've talked to Jane so much about this over the past year that I fell as if I know these characters by heart now - I hope you will too by the end of the run. I warn you - it gets bleaker, and funnier and more inspired as it goes along.
