Food for Thought

This should maybe be on the 'real books' thread but what the hell.

Some food for thought.

The competition is the fairest solution. To add kudos it would be a good idea to have a judge or judges who know the territory and who are also well known to many.

It would work as an excellent calling card to the industry.
It will also cause heated debate on the site and that is not a bad thing.

But.

It will create winners and losers and that may be a problem.

A potential banana skin.

You see people love to write regardless of ability.

There's the rub.

ABCtales has to recognise and embrace the harsh facts that there are talented writers on the site who deserve to be taken very seriously and encouraged just as much as the less talented. ABCtales would be thrilled beyond belief if one of its writers went on to be a success, it adds credibility to the site, more interest and more money in the long run. This is the ABCtales holy grail.

It would be a stunning victory for ABCtales to develop and make a financial profit without failing its ethics on which it originally flourished.

To sell out for the sake and of the spite of others would be very poor form; ABCtales are no doubt fully aware of this and have been from day one.

The balance has to be right.

That has always been this sites biggest and confounding challenge.

I think they can pull it off.
