Story and Poem of the Week and Inspiration Point

Reading the week's new work on ABC is always a cheering antidote to the current 'cold snap' we're having in the UK. Thanks to all those who have posted such wonderful stuff over the last seven days.

Story of the Week goes to ethancrane's brilliantly surreal and funny 'Your Mutual Aid Hourly Pay Insults My Intelligence'. Like all the best surreal writing, it has at least one toe firmly planted in reality, and there is nothing in it that seems impossible. And it was great to hear it in the author's own voice at the ABC Christmas Reading Night! Your Mutual Aid Hourly Pay Insults My Intelligence | ABCtales

Poem of the Week is skinner_jennifer's beautiful 'Walk In December Snow'. As well as being a wonderful piece of nature writing, this is one of the most purely romantic pieces I've read in a long time. I'm not an easy audience for romantic writing - not a lot melts my icy heart - but this description of two people enjoying each other, the snow and their dreams, was a real joy. Walk In December Snow | ABCtales
