This Country - TV review

I had tears streaming down my face. Tears of laughter.

This Country shows us the comic doings of Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe and Kerry's dad Martin. Lots of good back-up bods too including big Mandy and Kerry's uncle Nugget. Uncle Nugget is soon to be released from prison but 'he was only having a laugh and 12 of the 20 people on the bus thought is was funny.' One for the nine o'clock watershed, pranks with large vehicles are not to be copied by children. Or by anyone.

This Country is not soft and gentle, think first series of Shameless, surrounded by fields, but the anger is more cheerful.. Lots of the 'big F', peoples lives assertively going nowhere. Daisy Mae Cooper and her brother, the writers and stars are from down the road in smalltown Cirencester. They 'tried filming in Ciren but it was too big' so they borrowed the village next door. It's been on BBC3 and has now moved to late-night BBC1. I love it!

Comments

I watched some of this one night. I'd find it impossible to say anything positive about it. About as funny as Jeremy Kyle is as much as I'd hazard.

I'm going to disagree with you, CM. Jeremy exploits poor people. Daisy Mae sort of exploits the part of Gloucester she is from but to me it feels like 'insider humour' rather than putting poor people down.

fair enough
