Story and Poem of the Month

Our Story and Poem of the Month for May, very kindly chosen by Di_Hard:

It is great to have so many superlative pieces of writing to read this month, but it makes choosing only one poem and story much harder, and I am so sorry I could not list everything I loved. Here are a few examples :

As well as completing her (definitely should be published) Parcel For You, Jane Hyphen gave us this magical first day in a new job :https://www.abctales.com/story/jane-hyphen/semper-augustus
Sean McNulty posted an excellent piece from The Martlet :https://www.abctales.com/story/sean-mcnulty/thats-dream-pop
Jolono began a series of Life Lessons; all are brilliant, not only for their advice but also the history, like this one :  https://www.abctales.com/story/jolono/10-life-lessons-number-8
While his beautifully told Steelie moves to Germany in the 1900's, Celticman comes back to Scotland in this vivid description of family members at a funeral : https://www.abctales.com/story/celticman/thin-line
Hudsonmoon continues to delight with J.C.'s trip to America :https://www.abctales.com/story/hudsonmoon/j-c-jones-v-let-us-eat
Every month Turlough posts a new instalment of his 100 words a day diary. May's was exceptional, even for him :https://www.abctales.com/story/turlough/fish-hill. It is Story of the Month

There were many great responses to the IP Beside the Sea. I loved this from Rhiannon :
Poem of the Month is Jenny's serene evocation of a folly. Feel time slow down as you read :
