Happiness vs Joy
Ps 30:5 For His anger is but for a moment, but His favor is for
A lifetime, or in His favor, is life.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
2 Cor 4:17 For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of passing
hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing
and achieving for us everlasting weight of glory (beyond all
measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all
calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness
never to cease!).
18 Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but
To the unseen things, for the visible things are temporal;
(brief and fleeting). But the invisible things are
deathless and everlasting.
So the joy must become a lifestyle.
A joy that exists regardless of circumstances.
Joy, then, is a choice.
You get to choose.
Joy is choosing to trust that God is faithful.
No matter what our lives look like.
We get to choose joy.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say when God chose you
Life would be easy and happy. Jesus said.
It actually says the opposite.
Jesus warned us that in this world we will have trouble.
But take heart.
He has overcome the world.
So why worry? God’s ways are not like our ways.
We see from a limited perspective.
But God sees the whole picture.
And gives us daily examples.
Of how faithful He is.
Even when we refuse to acknowledge it.
I will sing of your love forever.
You keep your promises.
Our God will make a way.
So why be afraid? Stand, declaring victory.
In the joy of the Lord.
