It's About Sisterhood

Fraserburgh is known as ‘The Broch’.  Last Friday, went to the cinema there to see ‘Practical Magic 2’.  Decided to leave early to visit the garden centre on the way, for Spring bulbs.  Bought paperwhite ‘Grandiflora’, and Hyacinths; ‘Gypsy Queen’ and ‘Yellow Queen’.  Feeling all calm and ‘moves-through-the-fairish’ decided that in order to miss the cinema adverts, (there’s a horrifying one about the perfect cat poop which, if I have to sit through again, will stab myself in the eye), anyway, to miss them, went for a walk and ruminated on how lovely life is when you’re retired and the main tasks of the day are choosing indoor bulbs, and buying walnut bread from the Polish shop.  Cutting it neat, rushed to the end of the cinema corridor, not realising that cinema 5 was upstairs.  There was a lift, assumed it would be quicker than walking back and taking the stairs, but it was the slowest lift on the planet.  Got into cinema 5 just as the film was starting.  Was standing beside the screen in pitch darkness, facing the whole audience.  They could see me, but I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.  Disoriented, walked across the front of the first row, into a wall.  Sat down in mortification, but the screen was so distorted, had to get up, wave an apology to everyone and walk back again, then up the short corridor I could see.  Then there was another lower wall and I couldn’t see how to get back any further.  Had to stand at that wall and wait until my eyes adjusted.  The women O’ The Broch didn’t point and laugh; they asked me if I needed help.  Understatement of the century. 

Film is funny, thankfully, and features an extraordinarily poignant use of ‘Landslide’.
