Part Two of Hard Time Killing Floor is live.

A short note before the link. The thing about a Skip James record — about any record made by someone who is no longer here — is that it carries a small impossibility. Skip has been gone since October 1969. The records he made remain, and they sound, when you put them on, like a man in the room with you. This is a comfortable haunting. Most people who collect old blues records are familiar with it.

This is the territory the story is in.

Five votes to two on Part One, plus comments that helped me catch and fix a detail I'd gotten wrong. Doing a story this way means the comments shape the story, and they did. Thank you for voting, and for keeping me honest. We raised $7 for ABCtales on Part One — same arrangement for Part Two: for every vote, win or lose, placed by Thursday 11:59 pm, I'll donate $1 to ABCtales.
