Mental Health

I'm due to go into hospital for a operation on my left hand, due to severe arthritis; in plaster for five weeks then a slow recovery. Our society is compassionate with regards obvious health problems but not mental health issues. Life has changed since I was standing at the edge of a platform on the London underground; I was 19 and life felt it had ended. I'm glad I didn't take that last leap when I thought of that train driver.

I didn't know about mental illness; I thought I must be mad bad or both. It's only by talking about depression and being open that stigma can be broken down.
