War euphemisms...
Here on the televised news I've noticed that "weapons of mass destruction" has suddenly been replaced with "weapons of mass murder."
Anyone notice any others?
Collateral damage: dead civilians
'We have heard reports ... ' The most useful tool in the media methinks.
"Pockets of resistance".

What a brilliant non-boring thing to say...
Thank God HE'S still with us.
The other day, before the bombing of Iraq began, Collen Powell referred to the forthcoming effort as the 'peaceful entry of force. A bit like the 'consensual acceptance of rape' if you ask me.
"Friendly fire" continues to be a good one tripping from the tongues of amphetamine-eyed Washington spokespeople and generals, brought back by popular demand from the first leg of this knock-about ten years ago.
'shock and awe' bombing used to be 'carpet bombing' but that got a bad name. Can't think why.
"Hoping for a swift resolution" when they blatantly ignored calls for one seems rather daft.
'Blue on Blue' is a favourite at the minute, being a new term for friendly fire incidents. It has its origin in war games where the goodies were blue and the baddies were always red (in a hang over over cold war days).
I think the term 'friendly fire' goes back to WW2.
And let us not forget the disgrace that remains 'ethnic cleansing'.
"pacification"
"winning the hearts and minds"
...though we have seen in the past days a fresh instance of 'fragging'....ie, a soldier blowing up his own commander via grenade. That's a Viet Nam Era phrase....as is the phrase Viet Nam "Era."
"terminate with extreme prejudice" I think we're going to hear a lot of that before long....
"body count"....already begun...gotta keep the statisticians happy....
