Here's an old friend of the show:
www.anitaroddick.com

Ramp up your liberal hand-wringing.
Patronise the poor.
Observe the blindingly obvious.
Go to www.anitaroddick.com.
It's got a load of facinating articles by the lady herself!

Or course she doesn't do any of this for self aggrandisement
That's why the URL is her full name.

So get ethical and get fighting globalisation you dumb, bovine, Eastenders addicted consumers that you are, you.
Or Anita'll come round and throw away half the contents of your fridge.

No Nikes, no way!

Well yes, it's a bit mean to the Dame but fun too. You see, I think the sort of smug scare mongering in books like Dame Roddick's and Naomi Klein's is very insulting. As if people don't actually know what is going on around them. Like the mighty Nicky Wire said about No Logo, if you just watch the news now and again you already know everything that's in that dumb book. I knew about globalisation when I was 17 just from listening to records by Crass and Poison Girls I was told that Ronald Reagan would kill me with an atomic bomb and it never happened. I was told that the world would fry because of hair spray. It's not going to. So now when people like the Dame parade the new bogeyman of 'Globalisation' in front of me I just feel jaded and uninterested. I know smoking's bad for me. I know I shouldn't drink as much as I do. And I know that the insipid march of Ronald McDonald is not a great thing. It's just not a threat to me and I really don't care.
