Pop Idol 2

Who will win Pop Idol 2? I wanted Susanne to win but she went out a few weeks' back. My money is on Sam now, although with all of Scotland voting for her Michelle may skew the voting.

None of the final three are as good as the first batch of Pop Idols, in my opinion. I was searching on Google and found some amazing stats on Simon Fuller, the chap behind Pop Idol:

"SIMON FULLER'S UK AND US TRACK RECORD

Number one singles - 96
Top 40 singles - 358
Number one albums - 79
Top 40 albums - 224"

Not bad eh? Can anyone imagine being responsible for 96 number 1 singles? Just one would be great!

Sam wasn't the best on Saturday but he has been great. His version of Mr Bojangles was fab. Mark is bland. Michelle sings one note very well.

D.B Firstly people ARE voting for her becuase she looks different to your average pop star in that she is fat (not portly or curvy, or well built). I have no problems with fat people I was related to one of their finest examples but I am aware that the people who actually buy the albums of the 'Pop Idol' types are more image lead than most of us over 12 and there's a world of difference between giving the unusual a chance and actually parting with the hard earned for their album, DVD, concert tickets etc. Would you pay to see her perform in concert? I, for example, like the songs of Blue, Darius, Will, et al but wouldn't dream of actually spending money on their records and that's the point. The 'X' factor that the ones who actually pay for these careers care so much about is the twinkle in the eye of a boy band or the bum of a girl; then it's the songs (written by someone else years ago usually) THEN it's the voice as an entity in its own right. Michelle has, it seems, neither the first or second bitys to offer and her voice is nothing special to make up for it, hence my point above. As for comparing her to a Sumo wrestler it was a remark on her stance and not her size, the same could be said about anyone standing in that braced way regardless of their weight

i saw it tonight... i dont usually watch it, but im currently practising essay avoidance. Is sam the one that sang the bon jovi song, 'always'? cos if it is, i counted at least 5 bum notes... brrr... And why has the woman (michelle?) got such a small mouth when her voice is so massive?

Was shocked to see Sam go out tonight, as was he by the look of it. Neither of the pair remaining deserves to win surely? Mark is pretty bland and Michelle's voice is quite soulless (reminds me of Celine Dion). I like the way Darius came on and did a storming song (which he has no doubt written and so will be raking it in from the royalties) and then said "Oh, I chose to do an album track." For most artiststs that would have been a pretty sure-fire hit single.

just shows how the great British public haven't a bloody clue. they voted the best singers off early and left us with two rubbish ones. The girl is boring to listen to and has a terrible attitude, the bloke pulls a lot of silly faces and sings flat all the time. what a bloody choice!

I watched it for the first time last night. I thought Sam deserved to go because he was shouting at times and out of tune. Mark was just thin (I don't know about the Midlands; he sounded like he was from Alabama.) The girl was phenomenal, in my opinion, and sent shivers up my spine with "Living is Without You". Also I thought that in the interviews she showed more personality than Gareth and Will did last time. Potential there, too. And if she sounds like Celine, then she's on the right track, surely - not that that's my kind of music. As for being soulless, I didn't think she was. (In any case, Aguilera's doing well enough with soulless ballads, such as her latest Mariah ripoff.) I like that strange, purring vibrato Michelle's got at the end of some notes, which is unique. Finally, there have been fewer and fewer fat famous singers in recent years, and it makes a change to see singing ability coming first. (And if she doesn't want to wave her arms about, that's fine with me.) Come on Michelle! d.beswetherick.

I find it all extremely sad. Music is dead. Long live Mp3. sneaksonix

I hate all this PC voting. Why would it be nicer to have someone fat at the top of the charts? surely we should have the best singers and entertainers there (not that we have for many a year). Michelle is not good enough. Nobody will buy her second album as she simply doesn't have the appeal to sell it. Her voice is fine but not great and that's about it. she does that head shake thing ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME like she's in a hair commercial as it's the only bit of her body that can move that fast and tries to make up for the fact that her feet are planted at shoulder width on the stage like a sumo wrestler ready for the big push. Mark is average too, not good enough voice, or looks, or style etc etc. Sam (the only personality there) had a cheeky something and a big voice for his stature and the pop chart making teenies would have gone for him had he made it. I suspect he'll be the one topping the charts two years from now while Mark and Michelle fight over the front end of the panto cow.

It's not about being PC - which I'd imagine would be the unlikely scenario of people voting for Michelle because she's fat instead of because of her voice - it's about accepting her as a singer instead of comparing her to a sumo wrestler. If you don't like her singing, fair enough; can't you leave it at that?

I don't like her singing. Or Mark's. To borrow Simon Cowells's phrase: "Distinctly average." Or how about: "That was just not good enough for this stage in the competition." Or to borrow Foxy's phrase: "That was just a tad cabaret for me. Sorry." Or to borrow Nicky's phrase: "I liked some of your earlier performances. I don't think this week has been your best week." Or to borrow Pete's phrase: "Two words - terrible." Or to borrow Ant and Dec's phrase: "I give you my love/an Eternal Love/ from me to you/ (rpt to fade)" Yet I saw Will Young's latest video today - where he did it all in one take and is in the process of getting thrown out of a club (or SOME thing) and it was fantastic. To borrow Simon Cowell's phrase: "That was sensational." and to borrow Ant and Dec's phrase: "Let's get ready to Rhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmbbbbbllleeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Iwish all of them would go back and finish their O-levels off and leave us all in peace.
