A new site tonight!

The changeover from the current ABCtales.com to the new ABCtales.com will take place overnight tonight. The new site should have extended functionality and solve many of the problems of the existing site. It will be a leap in the dark and there will, inevitably, be additions that we will want to make to it. However, it should be a lot better than what we've got now and it should get a lot better than that pretty quickly.

Stand by your beds.

The latest news is that they hit snags last night - with loads of crazy usernames being registered - they were never activated but are still in the depths of the system and have to be eradicated. They contain punctuation marks etc. Each time one comes up it stops the automatic dataflow, has to be traced by hand and then cleared. At first these were 1% of entries but at the new end (those registered since the TAV Version 2 ABCtales) are 15%. This holds things up considerably. They may have finished that transfer in the wee small hours of this morning but now have to move over the stories etc. They are now sleeping and should be back on the job in the late afternoon. Techie time again!

'I agree about the WTC but I very much doubt that a plane hit the pentagon. those quick thinking american spin mongers just picked up the ball and run with it' And people wonder how all these lame-ass conspiracy theories get up and running in the first place. Jesus H Christ.

Hey Rokkit, I'm not some half brained moron from the backwaters sitting in a rocking chair with a shotgun and tin foil on my head. I'm going on what I have read and seen and there are some VERY convincing arguments against a 747 hitting that building. It's widely understood that the pentagon crash is never talked about and it's obvious to see why when you look at the facts. .. of course, America would never do someting drastic to sway public opinion would it? The American government has done more cover ups than a teenagers makeup bag.

'there are some VERY convincing arguments against a 747 hitting that building' I totally agree. It was a 757. So where's Flight 77 gone, then? Still buzzing around in the sky? Why don't you try explaining to the bereaved families of people onboard the flight that their loved ones are still alive? If a few cherry-picked erroneous witness statements and some wonky physics are your idea of a 'VERY convincing' argument, then I think the archetypal 'half brained moron from the backwaters sitting in a rocking chair' better loan you his tin foil hat. It'll protect you when our shapeshifting lizard rulers switch on their mind control satelites. But then I suppose your background in aviation and crash investigation allowed you to weigh the evidence in an informed and objective manner against other theories. Scully, Mulder, come back! All is forgiven!

I found that silver plated colander's (large ones) work far better than wrapping aluminum foil over my head. Plus, when I'm done receiving my intergallactic messages from the planet xuzocomb, I can drain my spaghetti.

US plans for first-strike nuclear attacks against seven countries By David Wastell in Washington (Filed: 10/03/2002) Hard to believe that an administration that were prepared to use nuclear weapons - against non-nuclear states which were not themselves allied with nuclear powers - wouldn't dissapear the odd Jumbo Jet if it suited their purpose. Makes you laugh that America is currently prepared to attack Iran if they attempt to develop nuclear weapons and willing to use their own nuclear weapons to do it. [%sig%]

Jaques, the real question is WHERE is tonight? According to Einsteins theory of relativity, the faster an object travels, the slower time runs for that object. Based on observations from the people working on the ABC website, it appears to have left Camden on Thursday evening, and is travelling at about 60% of light speed. That puts it somwhere near the edge of the solar system, just past Skegness. [%sig%]

Also, according to African time, there is no such thing as a fixed time. Today, tomorrow etc. have no meaning. It seems abctales works on the same principle.

I'm putting a bet on the 9th September... that would be apt, as that is the date in 2003 when the overhaul was supposed to have taken place... all good things come to those who wait however!

I've had two dreams about finding the new home page. In one there was a new 'pic' - a sort of cubist rendition of an office chair in various shades of orange and ochre... Pehaps 'twill always be but a dream (ooops - Shakespeare thread's obviously got to me!)

Good question rokkit, where is that huge plane? (747, 757 yeah, one's enormous and the other's about the size of a mini metro, makes a big difference) not a lot of signs of it at the pentagon. speaking of dodgy physics you'd need to really stretch the basics to convince me that that plane hit that building. try these physics physics911.org no, let me guess, you have the American press, government and a general sense of all American goodness to back up your arguments dont you. well that's me convinced. greiving families you say? the world's full of them, and your point was? of course it's possible to lose a plane in America. of course a conspiracy is feasable, there are a whole bunch of websites and newspaper reports from some credible sources that flag up serious questions about that incident, so many that I won't go into it all now or put links up (as you can tell from above, I don't know how. I've tried to learn but the shape shifting lizards that run the world have put implants in me while I was asleep.. obviously!), you can find hundreds very easily and most will leave you with doubts about the validity of that crash. I have my doubts and I'm entitled to them without being labelled a moron or a heretic by Uncle Sam's diciples. I'm as intelligent, aware and 'experienced in aviation and crash investigation' as most people. I'm sure you have years of qulaified experience in these specific fields and will now list in a Cv post your credentials, I can't wait. You don't have to be Momma to know when the apple pie's gone off.

I agree that we should keep an open mind, Ely. Didn't a Frenchman write a best selling book on the subject? To change the subject: Rokkit, I think this is so Zen - If you could get rid of yourself just once, the secret of secrets would open to you. The face of the unknown, hidden beyond the universe - would appear on the mirror of your perception. ~ Rumi. I was amazed to discover it was inspired by Islam [%sig%]

Thats an interesting site... (I had heard though, that rather than a F-16 being the most likely thing to have in fact hit the pentagon, it was a delivery truck from Dunkin Donuts, bringing in several tonnes of light snacks for the occupiers.)

Mykle - your mind's so open, your brain fell out. And Ely - Christ on a bike: 'of course a conspiracy is feasable, there are a whole bunch of websites and newspaper reports from some credible sources that flag up serious questions about that incident'. A whole bunch of websites, eh? And some newspaper reports, too? Because if someone makes a Flash movie about the American government doing something untoward, it *must* be true, right? Because the current administration are bad, bad men, right? 'I have my doubts and I'm entitled to them without being labelled a moron or a heretic by Uncle Sam's diciples.' Which implies that anyone who doesn't view your doubts is one of 'Uncle Sam's disciples'. See, this is a great real-life demonstration of why conspiracy theories become so popular - they confirm people's prejudices about the world and make the world seem a more orderly, meaningful place. You're so overawed by your distrust of the US government that when someone poses a fairly straightforward logistical question like 'Why didn't the wings shear through the building?' (Answer: They're aluminium and full of fuel, so they likely combusted on impact, shattering into tiny fragments. A plane is mostly empty space with a lightweight frame - that's how it gets off the ground - and the 757 crashed into a huge, reinforced building built when Pearl Harbour had shown that long-distance air raids were viable, but before post-war commercial efficiency, when it became apparent that if the Soviets dropped a nuke, nothing would survive anyway) Insofar as motive goes, you seem satisfied with the supposition that they're all compulsive liars anyhow, and lying's what they do. It's worth coming to grips with a little tool called Occam's Razor. If it's a conspiracy you're hankering after, you don't need to propose that a missile from sources unknown struck the Pentagon - just think of the Bush administration, given adequate warning, sitting on their fat rears doing sweet FA, with certain elements looking forward to the huge political boost an attack would provide, perhaps in their arrogance not realising how big it would be. There you go. More prosiac, harder to put a kickass soundtrack too... but far more likely. If any o' them terrorists come near me I'll own their asses with a full-on Dharma Flaming Roundhouse! Om!

"one should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything" -you see what's happened, you draw your own conclusions. -you see what's happened, you wait for the government to explain it. I think I just spotted an unnecessary entity in this particular razor. motive? Well that's one way of looking at it, or maybe after a few seconds someone whispered in a little monkey's ear.. "err Mister president, as a PR excercise this could go badly and there ARE voters on board. We should really take over from here sir."
