" - they confirm people's prejudices about the world and make the world seem a more orderly, meaningful place."
Insightful comment Rokkit... conspiracy theories such as these will readily find a home in people that have failed to grasp the real complexity of our world....
Those who planned Sept 11 set out to do something extraordinary... yet even they must have stood and watched in complete amazement (just like the rest of us) at the sight of the Twin Towers collapsing in the way that they did....
The problem with loony theories is that they actually play into the hands of those that are in power.... they deflect attention from the real day to day charges of incompetence, poor planning, poor decision making that could and should be labelled at any administration in power...
Iraq is a case in point... whilst there are still people wringing their hands about the rightness/wrongness of the war (as if the clock could be turned back).... it could be argued that they (the administrations) have done and continue to do an extremely poor job of handling the aftermath... Can you hear railing voices calling them to account!!! no lets talk about improbable theories of disappearing planes instead.... they must be laughing their heads off..
Here is my conspiracy theory... these idiotic stories are actually put about by those in power.... it is in their interest after all that hordes of people that would otherwise truly be questioning the competency of their day to day actions... indulge their intellect in creating and perpetuating easily dismissable tales based on 'hidsight'...
I dont know so much.. i like to keep an open mind. I think that if you start dismissing stuff as loony theories, you close yourself off too much... plus, some are entertaining at the very least... I hate to dismiss anything out of hand.
Rokkit - wings are full of fuel? *are* they?
'(i didnt know that)'
Aha! A denial! Did you see that? Did you see that everyone? She's *guilty* as a fox with a gobful of feathers! Methinks the CRYPTO-REPTILIAN OVERLORD protests too much!
I love abc. Only here can you start a thread about technical overhauls and end up with reptilian overlords by way of joni mitchell, 9/11, einsteins theory of relativity and colanders.
where else eh?
Ahh... flicking forked tongue... and a maneater to boot...
Thought so.... and...
'Li' as a short form of Lizard and 'ana' from the latin for 'grace'
ergo 'graceful lizard'...
Do you care to deny it now!!!
*Does Andrew suspect any of this*
Dear Stephen and stroppy Emma, I'll have you both know I'm very fussy where I back up and very little puts it up as it happens.
Good luck ABC, I'm out this evening (though I know I won't be missed) but will be ready with the life-jackets after midnight.
I'll miss you George just don't tell anyone ok
I won't cross my fingers I've got some typing to do and crossed fingers are not very productive when typing is involved
Good luck abc and all who sail in her - trys to cross toes instead
Emma looked tired. She had been sitting on the sofa flipping through a ten year old copy of Top Gear Magazine for over an hour. As she wiggled, she could hear muffled voices and a telephone ring through the glass window, but the door never opened.
She gazed at her watch and sighed...
Nothing new there Denver - but more forcefully presented perhaps.
Has anyone ever dared suggest the unthinkable - that it was a self-inflicted attack used as an excuse to start the 'war on terror'?
Well, highly unlikely...I watched the planes strick TWTC that morning. It wasn't staged. Did anybody see wreckage of aircraft at TWTC? Aluminum melts at what 660 degrees C. The fires were much hotter than that, over 1800 deg C. People don't have enough to think about I suppose.
