Georgy's Back From Georgy's Land.

Just loggin' in fer duty folks.

Refreshed from a trip to San Francisco and the Grand Canyon. Actually the Grand Canyon makes you realise just how unimportant the squabbles and insults here are, as are the swollen egos, which I see are still in self-massaging mode.

Still, I look forward to the usual stream of abuse from my regular detractors with alacrity.

Welcome back Missi - well, obviously you caused no diplomatic scandals - we all would have seen as much on CNN (well those of us with SkyPlus) Sounds as if you had an amazing trip - shame you didn't get to go and have a word with the other George- Oh well - maybe next time!

Why thank you John, it was very enjoyable, if a bit arduous in the travelling dept. (2480 miles in 9 days, and that didn't include the the flights!)

Welcome back George. It has been begun to be pretty civilised here of late, the inane auto insults have tailed off. Lets keep it that way.

Are you trying to tell me something here Gerry? No interviews James, BUT I did have an incredible piece of good fortune that resulted in me being given a tour of Elvis Presleys refuge home in Palm Springs. I also had the misfortune of having to out-run a taxi over 200yds when I inadvertently left my wallet on the back seat. The two guys with me at the time pissed themselves as I, in their words, 'overtook three cars', before catching the cab at a red light. I also was allowed to sit in Frank Sinatra's favourite seat at 'Levreri's' Italian restaurant, a place he frequented regularly when at home in Palm Springs.

Welcome back George, hope you didn't cause any diplomatic incidents. As you can see, the children haven't been put to bed yet. [%sig%]

Sorry Michael, I can't actually see where I used the offending word. No diplomatic incidents Eamonn, that is, unless they monitor Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas, and caught me posing for a photo with the wax work (or was it then real thing?) of George Bush with me standing at the Presidential podium and my finger in his ear! Or the piccy of PriDi with me fondling her leg! Was she REALLY that tall? Hewitt must have stood on an orange box!

Now those are some pics for the Rogue's Gallery! I had to outrun a taxi in Bangkok once because I realized I'd given him the equivalent of £10 for a 60P fare and just walked off. He gave me the difference once I overtook him in the traffice--not all that difficult given the traffice there, but running in the heat made it an interesting experience.

Well as it happens Lizzie, I DID have his ear for a while, in fact I have a photo to prove it. I'll send a couple of pics to James, and maybe he'll see fit to post them on his site.

Errrr....Ahemmmm......George...everybody gets to sit in Sinatra's favorite seat. Did you get to the crater?
John

I didn't.

You didn't get to the crater or didn't get to sit in "Sinatra's favorite seat?"
John

Opps.. Thought that said canters favorite seat.

Oh, I didn't think for a moment that I was getting any special favour, Denver. Any place with a stars favourite anything would be very foolish not to exploit it. I expect every restaurant in Palm Springs has a 'Sinatra seat', and probably several have a 'Presley seat' as well, not to mention Bob Hope, Liberace, Bing Crosby et al. Not too sure what you are referring to as the 'crater'.

Ohhh, the gigantic meteor crater east of Flagstaff. It's not far from the grand canyon, and probably one of the largest in the world (short of the Gulf of Mexico). Obviously, you didn't go there.

I saw the crater many years ago. Quite impressive. Somewhere there is also dry river bed with a large cliff that used to be a water fall. I remember it as huge, though I was just a kid at the time, so maybe it wasn't so big. The Grand Canyon, however, is huge by anyone's standards.

Welcome home Missi! did you walk down in the Gc or take a helicopter?
mississippi
Anonymous's picture
No, I didn't get to see the meteor crater, though I DO know about it, I didn't actually go to Flagstaff either. The trip was from Laughlin, and a bloody long drive it was too, 4hrs each way! As a result I was at the canyon for only 3hrs or so, but did take a helicopter ride over it, and THAT was something special.

I went to Blackpool in 1979...and do you know i think Ken Dodd was a tad over optimistic when he said it was bigger than Vegas, with regards being the entertainment centre of the world. But then again i haven't been back since and things might well have changed.

it's all that tickling he does, bound to go blind soon. Welcome back George. Long time no read and all that. The trip sounds great, I've just done a tour of the North West.. Bolton, Blackburn, Oldham, Rochdale, Huddersfield, Warrington, Bradford and, as a huge climax, Blackpool. I was surveying shop signs. You see? Glamour is never far away and I'm sure you're green with envy now aren't you, eh? And for the record Blackpool IS bigger than Vegas by four whole letters so nerr!
