I never quite understood what the big fuss was about her. She's pretty, yeah (especially after they airbrush all the spots off her face), but talent-wise she's on par with, say, the Spice Girls. And she's clearly ...erm...lacking in up-to-date knowledge on world affairs. This is an opinion.

Have to agree with MM here.

Well everybody knows pop singers are fancied for their knowledge of world affairs... obviously.

Ah, I could make a comment here about men's lack of discrimination in terms of requiring intelligent conversation prior to shagging a pretty girl, but I won't, as someone is likely to take that as a militant feminist statement...

How about shagging ugly girls?
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
Uh, 'lack of discrimination' would cover that, as well, RD.

I think Woody Allen covered the similar lack in judgement of our female counterpparts very well in his tribute to War and Peace.

What constitutes "intelligent" conversation?
archergirl

I wouldn't argue with you there, Smiley. Women make some pretty stupid choices...

Would a conversation about the installation of gimble gyroscopes on a sub-orbital payload qualify?
Smiley

fascinating things gyroscopes!

The problem with men of a certain age, when I was a certain age, which I'm thankfully not, anymore, is that, for me at least, their conversations were so transparent and unsubtle as to leave me less interested in them than I might have been had they tried a little harder to make intelligent conversation. About gyroscopes, perhaps. And I'm sure it's not only limited to men of a certain age, either... I guess if one is just out for a quick mindless shag to get one's rocks off, then intelligent conversation is of minimum importance. For example, if Russell Crowe was to offer me a banal commentary on how big his muscles are, I would scarce let him complete his sentence prior to dragging him off to a dark corner for more ...compelling...conversations. However, I think one gets to the point when one requires some intelligence in a partner; actually, one probably gets to the point when one requires a -partner- , someone _interesting_ and loving, rather than a whole series of meaningless humps after a night out on the town. Then again, it might just be me...

I've given up on all of that...I go for the series of meaningless humps. It's cheaper. Any sign of intelligence usually turns into a distraction.

I think inelligent conversation has a certain genetic attraction because it strongly implies intelligence which is a survival trait. Mind you i'm talking nonesense today so no nooky for me.

A distraction from humping?

The ones that haven't been bitten off, that is. The thing I love about Britney is that she is so spiritual. Like how her last album was "like, really influenced by lots of eastern religions". When asked which ones, "Er,...Kabbalah?"

Not for camels.

Exactly.

If intelligence is a genetic 'attractor' then why do so many godawful stupid human beings seem to procreate, I wonder?
Smiley

Perhaps you need to be intelligent to recognise it.

Well, there's a small difference between procreating and pleasuring. They aren't necessarily mutually exclusive of one another, but they can be...
Smiley
Anonymous's picture
There's a huge difference!
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
I was being ironical. I prefer pleasuring to procreating. Sometimes those mindless humps wind up being more about the instinctive procreative urge than the 'higher' urge of pleasure. But women's sexuality is vastly different from men's...
Smiley
Anonymous's picture
How do you know it's so different?
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
Erm...do I have to answer that? There are clear physiological and psychological differences, Smiley. It takes men, on average, 6 seconds to become fully aroused. It takes women, on average, THIRTY seconds to reach the same point. Men seem to be able to separate emotions from sexuality much more easily than women. E.g. they can shag someone they don't care about at all. Yes, yes, women can, too, but it isn't quite as easy... There is more, but I have a miserable backache tonight and don't feel as sharp as usual. But they really are different.
Smiley

I'm usually impressed by your arguements Ag but arousal times measured in seconds seem fairly similar to me. The physical differences were not what I ment and you know that and the rest is merely vaguely true.
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
I think there's quite a significant difference between six and thirty seconds, Smiley. Like, five times as different. I think there are emotional differences as well; most problems I think stem from misunderstanding these differences.
Smiley
Anonymous's picture
Five times would be significant if it were that the orgasm lasted five times longer but although the 24 second time lag could be important, maybe critical on certain occasions it's hard to think of many...
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
I suppose it just depends on how good you are at it, Smiley. There's a wide range of skills and abilities in that department, you know...24 seconds can make a world of difference.
Smiley

I haven't even considered going beyond kissing for the first 20 minutes ;o)
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
Sometimes the kissing is the best part....;-D
Smiley
Anonymous's picture
Sometimes it is. Sometimes just hugging and swaying from side to side can make you so dizzy you sometimes fall over! It all depends on who you're with.
archergirl
Anonymous's picture
Wouldn't know, Smiley. It's been a long, long time since I felt that way about anyone... not sure I'd know how to feel that way anymore. Geez, what a sad, cynical old biddy I'm turning into.

I wish her heart was as big as her whole body, because then she wouldn't be able to talk/sing/stare/ and generally be a scary representation of what making your child start performing at an early age does to a human being. (i.e. nothing much other than depress them/fill them with a false sense of self-belief/make them think they have been chosen by God/make them have a startling way of looking out at the camera as though they would bite off your genitalia without a second thought.

It's usually the huge EXTERNAL organs you have to worry about with pop stars. (Allegedly)
