Return Of The Jedi

Suddenly, Sunday afternoon, I try to post and get: Posting is not available because your IP Address, the name you entered, or the e-mail you entered was banned. This may not be because of you. Try another name and/or e-mail. If you still cannot post, contact admin@abctales.com for an explanation.

I'm was quite disappointed (but not surprised) as I have been given no warning or reason for the ban but I presumed it was part of the 'get rid of the troublesome posters' plan.
I watch helplessly as Archer Girl was bullied and harassed on the Big Brother thread because she continues to be her own person - as she says: "But I'm not really on anyone's *side*; there are people I happen to have more interactions with but I try to avoid any whiff of the 'us against them' mentality. I don't 'know' anyone on this forum personally, so how can I make any kind of judgment as to what kind of person they really are, or whether what they -say- is what they actually -believe-?"

So, who has been banned and why? Surely a list of rules and a system of warnings would be a good idea if people are going to be banned!

I finally decided that I would find out why I had been banned and emailed
admin@abctales.com (as suggested by on the ban message) - the email bounced back with this entertaining message:
" Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail.abctales.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
: > Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. vpopmail (#5.1.1)"

I tried various other emails but everything was bouncing back so I shut my computer down and left it off for a few minutes then rebooted and decided to send my email via someone else. This was late Tuesday night -

I eventually get a reply from Tony at 5.45PM yesterday (Wednesday) to inform me that there has been no move to 'block' me from the forums. It seems that, after several further emails, it has been discovered I might have been "unintentionally caught in some form of crossfire."
Oh, well, all's well that ends well - so here goes...

So, if any other people are being 'blocked' and the management don't know anything about it - then it serves you right you should have been nicer to Liana and George! However try contacting Tony to sort it out.

OK, so here's the score. Ritawrites, Jasper and maxwell edison/alumbloom have been banned. Their IP addresses have been blocked. It is the first time we have done it to anyone but they had all been repeatedly and politely requested to behave themselves and they refused to do so. Maxwell posted nine new threads last Sunday full of vitriol and foul language. Sometimes these things just have to stop. If people won't listen to reason then that's what happens. I was very saddened that mykle felt it appropriate to go running to the Arts Council (who forwarded his email on to Mark) before he emailed me. He may have tried admin@ but he did not, as far as I'm aware, try to email either mark or I. He has done done us no favours. He now says in repeated emails to me that he will only be popping in occasionally to see how the inmates are getting on. He was not 'banned' and I sorted it very quickly once he contacted me. There are other voices who do not believe that banning is ever a good thing and, on the whole, I concur with them. It is not something I wish to do again. So - best behaviour from all if you please. Let's not have ridiculous abuse from one person to another. If you don't like them - ignore them. It's easy.

Well mykle, You're correct in that people shoud be informed before being banned. I believe that some people have been banned, but I didn't realise that you were among them. If Tony says that you were caught in the crossfire, then I suggest that that is a cop out. Either you are or you aren't and if you are, than backtracking is a bit sad. I know we have had our differences (to say the least), but all this secret banning and changing of minds (as it would seem) is wrong. At least someone should have the bollocks to say what is going on. Then again, I don't suppose that is likely to happen.

Apology accepted. I don't troll. I say what I mean, as myself. I'm still mystified that you were (seemingly) banned, but then Tony then seemed to backtrack on that. For what's it worth, I have no desire to see you banned, despite you really fucking me off now and then. I just hope that you wish to join in with the general ethos of the site and stop being so paranoid about the 'ABC committee'. The joke is, the first time that I ever e-mailed Liana, was to laugh at the fact that you thought that we were part of the ABC elite. That was a few days ago. Self fulfilling prophecy anyone?

If anyone is banned, it is a matter for Tony Cook in his capacity as Chief Executive and if you really think that George, Liana (and perhaps in your mind, myself), have undue influence, then you are just plain wrong. Not even up for arguement, you are wrong.

I have had a go at you on a couple of occasions, but they are in the past and I have no wish to prolong bad feeling, to the detriment of ABC. George and yourself have issues and i think you should BOTH put it to one side, irrespective of the merits of your respective arguements. The forums are more important than name calling.
