Bad Pottery

Anyone ever bring a sample of bad pottery (or other 'crafts') from school, and your mum hid it behind a curtain on the landing as she struggled to find a way of not offending but maintaining the integrity of the house?

M-in-Law waited 30 odd years to get round that one. She turned up a while ago with some ceramic animal type thing David had made, saying, 'Do you remember this David? I thought Ellen would love to see what her daddy made at school!' and promptly left it here. He's 43. Do you think his feelings would be hurt if I shoved it in a drawer?
No, my mother showed it all off regardless. I made a 'vase' that was about 50cm tall, kinda shaped like a volcano, weighed a ton and was a murky brown and grey colour, cause that's all they had left at school. She proudly displayed it as a door stop, and still does to this day.

I won a blue ribbon for a dinosaur sculpture in the second grade -- salt clay and glitter, of all things. "Excellent" my teacher called it. "What the hell is this?" asked my mother. There's no accounting for taste.
