One Year On!

About a year ago I undertook The Great Summer Purge of 2005. Some of you may remember me mentioning this on ABC. I particularly recall receiving some sound and supportive advice from 2Lou ' thanks for that, Lou! For those who don't know, this was a momentous occasion when I threw away all of my previous writing. None of it had seen the light of day. It had sat there, in some cases for many years, in a large foolscap ringbinder, doing nothing, being read my no one except me, and I felt that, if I was to have a go at being a "serious writer, I had to start again.

It was a scary time! I had some regrets and I troubled over it for a couple of months or so afterwards. But since then I have produced a sizeable collection on ABC, I have discovered Larry and Mick, I have taken part in an exhibition at The Mailbox in Birmingham, I have had a few cherries, I have received some kind (and occasionally less so) words from ABCers, I have had a piece accepted in Fuselit, and I have made a few tentative steps into the World of Publishing. Regrets? Pah!

Now it's time for the next step¦ but what will it be? The novel? The BBC script? The comic strip? The standup routine? Giving up "proper work entirely and becoming a full-time, self-sustained Writer? Who knows! Exciting times ahead¦

Aww, well done, peps! It's good to throw the whole thing over and start again sometimes! But why limit yourself to one of those choices? Why not go for ALL of them, if you can? :-)

Now I know who the new editors are I realise that this was not mere gamboling but young gods playfully considering the great responsibilities and ramifications of their new power. I'm pleased to see that, despite the jests, they are not taking it lightly and recognise the important role that cherries play on ABC. I'm not sure that everyone who gets a cherry will feel the need to dedicate their life's work to the appropriate editor - but I am sure that in most cases the first cherry does serve to encourage and perhaps inspire and, who knows, may lead on to an Anton Chekhov play :O) Oh, and of course, good luck Peps!

Ok, point taken, no more teasing. As I said BBF I'm off back to Thailand in a few weeks and I don't post while I'm away so you should get a nice long rest from my 'destructiveness'.

Hahaha, I don't think you'd have to travel quite that far for such pursuits, Camus :) I'll work on the translation, Ag, my Thai is still 'nit noy' :O)

All I said to mykle in Thai was, "I'm jealous, Mr. Mykle, completely jealous. Good luck, eh?". And then some little vindictive prick put 'kocksooker' on the end. And you're, what, how old? Ten?

Thai words very rarely sound like English words although 'Gay' is 'Gaeh'. Buying meat one day I was sure what 'moo' would be and I was right - it was pig.

Actually, 'palavras' would be 'words', not questions. Wasn't thinking straight. Mykle, it WAS a hacker who changed the posts. No, actually, it was just a hack. Not a very clever one.

I said, for clarification: Your words in Portuguese are bad (I couldn't remember wrong and couldn't be arsed to go look it up), they are not correct (Completely) (This word most likely spelt wrong for the above reason). But, if you want to speak, you can with me. There. It's all clear now. :)
