Wish I could be there, Bird. I used to march with the CND (led by Bertie Russell) in the 60s. I wish you all the luck in the world. You're gonna need it.

What a stupid idea! I suppose people like U are going to think of the WTC as the Building of Hearts or something. By all means stand shoulder to shoulder, it'll make an easier target for the next plane to fly over London.

Barry, Not quite sure what you mean by "people like U".I would not make a presumption about your politics or feelings about the current situation,as you have mine. But, by all means judge away....Perhaps if you could criticise me in an intelligent manner we'd be having a conversation....?

Hey Barry NO BALLS, Firstly: before U spout your wisdom, have the honesty to put your true identity in the e-mail section. Secondly: Try READING some of the other threads. That way you WILL GRASP the feeling of the ordinary people here. NOBODY to my knowledge has denegraded the bombings of the WTC. BUT, this does not mean we are in favour of bombing the @!#$ out of a peoples who have gone back thousands of years. Yes of course the culprits should be found and tried, culprits means as in them that are behind it. Not the poor souls who are so frightened of reprisals that they have NO choice but to follow their government of the time. SO BARRY, next time you feel like taking a pot at someone's honest belief, try thinking before you hit that keyboard!!!!!!! AJ PS Was the U me??????

AJ I might not have posted a notice about it if it hadn't been for having read the "it's too late" threads amongst others.Because of the internet it is possible for people to share concerns and what feels like(barry!)unpopular opinion. If the sort of msgs talers have been posting show anything it is that there is a growing questioning of the given truth. We're not all mad or bleeding hearts or people subscribing to a particular politic. We're just human. We think life is important. And we find it hard to accept from the President of a grieving nation that more must die.Not so radical really! There were also 5000 ppl at Whitehall today who think so too. By "U" I don't think Barry really knows who he is refering to....all of us i guess...mmm..constructive attitude, what(!)?

Thought I'd keep you up to date... Protesters Stand For Peace Anti-war demonstrators have rallied in city centres across the UK to voice opposition to military action against Afghanistan. About 3,000 people campaigned in London on Saturday, 1,000 in Glasgow and more than 300 in Manchester. The CND-organised protests called on the West not to launch a military attack against Osama bin Laden - the terrorist leader thought to be behind last week's attacks on New York and Washington. 'Spiral of violence' CND chairwoman Carol Naughton warned Prime Minister Tony Blair and United States President George Bush they themselves risked being seen as terrorists if they used violent action. "Any military strike is going to kill yet more civilians who don't deserve to die, in the same way as the Americans didn't deserve to die," she said. "It will only create a spiral of violence and it will create a huge uprising against the US and possibly Britain. In London, campaigners gathered outside Downing Street, with many wearing black and carrying white flowers. Pop singer David Gray was among those waving placards and standing "shoulder to shoulder". In Glasgow, the protest began with a minute's silence and in Manchester, people marched from the Peace Gardens to Royal Exchange Square.

Several hundred in Glasgow. Some excellent speeches at this low-key affair, especially one by a representative of the local fire brigade and Tommy Sheridan's. I only arrived halfway through the meeting unfortunately. Representative slogan on banners: "bread not bombs!"
