ABCtalers and musicians
Someone once said to me after reading something I wrote (admittedly with lots of swearing in) that I was the literary equivalent of eminem. I love eminem's lyrics so don't take it as an insult but this would be my judgement.
Me: Radiohead /Eminem
Linsi: Manic Street Preachers or Chilli peppers (touches the mainstream without losing talent or a distinct voice)
Ivoryfishbone: Tanita Tikaram (sorry its the black thing)
Ralph: Coldplay or the Verve (not trying to shock yet totally refreshing and original)
Karl: Chris Rea (gritty but soft)
Mark YB: Enigma (mysterious and spiritual)
can you add to the list?
FUNKY_SEAGULL : THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS
MYKLE: PINK FLOYD
1LEGSPIDER: PERRY BLAKE
ME: BABYBIRD AND PULP
:o))) I really like your question!!!

I meant your topic....
i didn't think i'd like to see the day where id think of karl or ralph and be humming johnny 99:
Ralph went lookin' for a job but he couldn't find none
he came home too drunk from mixin tanqueray and wine
he got a gun
shot a night clerk now they call 'im johnny 99.
i actually sit under a lifesize poster of the god-like Morrissey while writing poetry. i find that his soothing tritonal range facilitates the muse.
some of martin's late night offerings remind me of a young morrissey, perhaps with similar overtones of a penchant for buggery. seriously, they remind me of arab strap a bit, or the tindersticks
dogstar's abc with the prose in it does remind me of some postcard stuff like orange juice and roddy frame, probably urban development, good bedsit music. so good call ralph.
Excellent Thread
Judith - Pete Shelley
Fey- Joni Mitchell
Martin T- Bruce Springsteen (Nebraska Album)
Karl-Bruce Springsteen (the complete back catalogue)
Funky Seagull-George Clinton
Dogstar- (anything on Postcard Records)
Liana- Tori Amos
Fish-Melissa Etheridge
Missi-Robert Cray
Andrew Pack-Lyle Lovett
Emily Hamblin-Billy Holiday
Ralphie
Me (Happy): Whitney Houston. Is that bad enough for ya?
Me (unhappy): Leonard Cohen..that was what Steve Gardiner said.
Judith you were right about the Chillies, but wrong about the Manics! (maybe slip some Wu-tang in and there you have it)
Good thread ...I will go away and think some more about it.
I missed out
Emily Hamblin: Ash (too young to be so bloody good, too harsh for pop, too soft for rock - utter perfection. Her "sea poem is better than ash's "girl from mars")
Me = Scatman, speaks alot but all of its nonsense :)
(nothing to do with the word scat at the front).
