Lessons to be learned...
As we stand today on the threshold of the post-Blair era it’s worth asking if there are any lessons to be learnt from the weekend's events, and I think the answer is yes...
Tony Blair has spent the last year charging frantically around the world trying to chase an impossible goal...he has burned the candle at both ends, and his body has taken a hammering...so what has he got to show for all this?...
* 50 of our soldiers dead
* £3 billion of UK taxpayers money wasted
* ongoing carnage in Iraq
* and heart catastrophe at the weekend...
If he had just taken things easy, stayed in the garden at Downing Street reading a few novels (as PMs used to do 80 years ago) we would all now be a lot better off...and Blair himself would be in fine health...instead the electrical system for one of his major body organs is f.ucked....
I believe there is a clear message here for all of us...trying to do everything yourself, putting your body under severe and unnecessary stress, letting ambition and vanity get the better of you, acting as if you are immortal...leads to disaster...
I don’t know how long Blair has left, pray God it's months rather than days, but the man has aged badly and his body can no longer take it...
as he listens to the thump thump thump of his heartbeat he cannot know for sure if the next one or the one after that will be his last...but he is now surely in an endgame situation...
for the sake of his young son and family...he should stop pandering to his rampant egomania and step down now to see out his remaining time in quiet dignity....
