LISTEN UP you lot...
Right. It is friday. The weather is damp and drizzling.
You had BETTER go out and procure
1. pixies: doolittle;
2. grant lee buffalo: mighty joe moon;
3. rem: life's rich pageant;
4. leonard cohen: songs of love and hate; and
5. the jam: sound affects.
You play them LOUD.
But not all at once.
You DON'T read the lyric sheets while they're playing.
Moving your hips IS ok.
Likewise, is consuming copious amounts of alcohol.
Keep some nutella chocolate spread handy. Just in case.
And don't let ANYONE tell you what to do.
Right?
Right...
I have to say the sounds of pablo honey and the bends way outclass the newer more EXPERIMENTAL stuff i can't listen to amnesiac does my head in.
...it's sometimes more exciting to find the creative people tackle the conventions rather than challenge them too much ro plain abandon them. i guess though we don't listen to experimental music for the same reasons as the 'regular' stuff... as interesting as it might be, i think i'd much rather tap my foot to something listenable and old fashioned like pretty vacant or debaser...
yeah! the bends was better than recent Radiohead albums but they couldn't be expected to make the Bends over and ove again. Amnesiac has some great moments and new stuff is great live.
The Pixies are better because all their albums are great.
Oh dear, have you tried the Samaritans?
Or AA?
aha brilliant will do exactly that is it alright if i just listen to the pixies though then i don't have to leave the house and can just wallow in depression at home as i change between that pavement and radiohead. along with the occasional drop of skunk anansie and eels. along with a healthy dos of guiness i should be right as rain in the morning....
radiohead... if they came round my house and tried to help me tidy up in my kitchen i would have to say "OI! RADIOHEAD! NO! While i admire your ability to experiment and hedge around the whole commercial and capitalist trappings of being a popular band, if you think you can come into my kitchen and make mournful dirges and film yourselves in shaky black and white then think again!"...
its nearly five o'clock on a friday.. weeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
Whilst having that admiration for Radiohead as an installation, they were actually also making some bloody good music at the time of the Bends - can we not have that band back ?
POW!
