Sad, sad news.

What can you say? What age is 58? I'm not religious, but I sincerely hope that George Harrison's beliefs were a real comfort to him and his family. Another significant piece of our collective history gone. Rest in peace..

Something Something in the way she moves Attracts me like no other lover Something in the way she woos me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how Somewhere in her smile she knows That I don't need no other lover Something in her style that shows me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how You're asking me will my love grow I don't know, I don't know You stick around and it may show I don't know, I don't know Something in the way she knows And all I have to do is think of her Something in the things she shows me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how.

i was too young to appreciate the beatles at their height...but i have grown to love their music and George is a sad loss... on the drive in this morning, they played "here comes the sun" and it moved me, probably for the first time... i think history will treat him very well...

How Ironic that the front page headline on the site is 'Do a John & Yoko' George was the quiet and shy one who wrote some beautiful songs. 'Here Comes The Sun' as Martin says is a three minute wonder. Its such a pertinant song for today and everyday. Ralph

Yes, very sad. There's a tribute this afternoon on Beeb 2 at 3.30 (GMT) for those interested and/or able to watch...

Here Come the Sun. Here comes the sun (Du du du du) Here comes the sun And I say It's alright Little darling It's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling It feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun (Du du du du) Here comes the sun And I say It's alright Little darling The smiles returning to the faces Little darling It seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun Here comes the sun And I say It's alright Sun, sun, sun, here it comes (five times) Little darling I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling It seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun Here comes the sun And I say It's alright Here comes the sun (Du du du du) Here comes the sun It's alright It's alright

For me, two single sounds will always define the Sixties: Paul Mc Cartney’s ‘Whooo…’ on ‘She Loves You’, and George Harrison’s Lead Guitar’s jangling resonant opening chord on ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. It’s been a tough week for Scousers – Our Lead’s gone to God and our GOD’s gone to Leeds. God bless, George.

Eddie It is a sad week, you must be gutted. You wont miss Fowler that much. We in the rest of England are always mystified by the fuss you scousers make of one of the most overatted players of the last ten years, Fowler and Owen together were unworkable. Now George is a diffrent matter altogether. He stole the limlight in 'A Hard Days Night' and was the most handsome. Ralph

Just heard the tribute's also on Beeb 1 at 8 pm (GMT), as well. Thought I'd let you know. At least I think he said 8, you'd better check. Sometimes get confused with the time difference...sorry.

The Beatles were a phenomenon that changed music, art, performing, entertainment in general and the recording business. They influenced millions of people. I was there from the beginning and share your grief over George, even while Paul is still here in America assisting those who grieve over the WTC. Long live the Beatles.

These things make us all feel own mortality. I saw the Beatles once, 1963 Southend Odeon. He was the same age as me, but infinitely more talented. It's a sad day for music, but even more so for his family.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"; "Life goes on within you and without you." What more can be said?

I live quite near Abbey Road Studios. Just saw the crowds outside in the chill air reading the cards left witht the flowers by candlelight. Maybe 100 or so. Big satellite TV trucks parked around the corner, 2-3 during the day, only saw one tonight. It's amazing, isn't it, that after all these years, the Beatles are still so important....even to people who barely know who they were as a group....quite a testimony to the boys. They deserve it.
