ABC tales and getting into print
This is a very silly question but I can't find an answer to it anywhere.
Q. If you submit a story to an ABC collection does that count as being published? Most magazines ask for submitted work to be unpublished.
Could any wise person tell me the answer, I would really appreciate it.

This has come round before, Rod, and is a tricky one.
It really does differ between magazine and magazine and you have to read the fine print of their contracts to discover the answer.
My advice is to put all of your material on to ABC and then, when you wish to submit a story or poem to a competition or whatever, withdraw it from here.
You know that you retain the copyright of everything on here and you are free to do with it what you will. We only take the copyright to be able to publish it on this site for as long as you choose to leave it here. I can't see that as 'being published' in any accepted definition but I also cannot give you the definitive answer.

I have an online journal at diary-x. Some of my entries I either have already turned into stories/essays or I plan to. Is having an online diary the same as being published? thanks!
