About Schmidt

Anyone seen this movie? Saw it when I was back in Bolton a few weeks ago and it's bloody marvellous. Can relate totally to the main character ..and the whole narrative idea that comes out of the letters he writes to his adopted Tanazanian kid is funny and sincerely poignant. A must see, I reckon..

I really enjoyed it, Nicholson is excellent though I thought his role in 'As Good As It Gets' was better. Particularly like the fact that there was denouement, something that Hollywood finds hard to avoid. Not so sure that Kathy Bates should have taken her kit off... somethings should be left to the imagination, ha ha ha.

that should be 'NO denouement' and 'some things'... back to typing class.
Me neither.

No f.ucking way choose! His role in 'As Good As It Gets' was better?? This character had subtlety, repressed emotions.. the acting was all below the surface.. in 'As Good..' he was a stereotype.. an eccentric one, I'll give you that.. but basically stereotyped and all the best moments were hammed up and milked of any real sincerity. Please post long theoretical argument delineating both movies and their central characters. Sorry got all passionate for a second.. don't want to deter others posting in saying they hated it.. if they did
