There was some gossip about a brief encounter during Albert's visit to Glasgow but, although there was a link through the mc prefix in our name, the story didn't quite square with the truth. Some family members viewed the matter with greater gravity and gave much serious thought to the theory that we were relatives but the mass of evidence suggests that there wasn't a particle of truth in it. Anyway, it was such a long time ago that most of us make light of it, now. I was only eight years old when he died but I have vivid memories of the day that it happened.
