Ooh I know of where you speak. Centre Radio, which died and was re-invented as Leicester Sound is just across the road from De Montfort Uni. Opposite Victoria Park - at the top of that long lovely walkway which has the museum on it. Hapy Days (mainly!).

i went to the small presses event today and i accused someone of being drew ... he wasnt drew ... and in fact he looked nothing at all like drew looks on his pic on abc ... but i thought what the hell ... sometimes people put pics of themselves ten years ago on here ... or indeed pics of someone else ... so i just accused the most likely looking candidate (i.e. not a middle aged woman and not a seriously unstylish man) of being drew ... he was sorry he wasnt or so he said ... but anyway we had a nice chat ... maybe i should accuse people of being drew more often ...

This is indeed a very dubious conversation starter... 'er are you that writer I talk to on the internet called Drew?' 'Pardon?' 'Are you Drew, the writer?' 'No, but I'll be anything you want me to be.....' 'oooooerrrr'

hahahah I wish I'd been there to see that. You said you weren't going to it ifb and I did look on the dm uni site and printed off a map but then it all looked a bit complicated. I didn't know any of the street names on the map so I didn't know where to start. Hope you had a good time. Did you make any useful contacts? I've emailed the nottm guy before but he told me he wasn't doing any fiction.

It is. I live in Leicester and I am off on Tuesday. Thanks for the info. I will come to the small presses one and I'd like to hear Alan Sillitoe. Is that on Tuesday too? And do I need tickets? No idea where De Montfort Uni is though but I will find it. Do you live in Leicester fish and where are you?

hello drew ... i thought you were in derby? anyhow ... i think you just turn up ... demontfort uni is near the charlotte ... its down a road off the road you come along if you pass the infirmary and go towards the holiday inn roundabout ... you have to turn off left before the road splits and bears round for newarke street where the phoenix is ... i dont live in leicester but south of it in murky harbour ... i might go to the patience agbabi workshop but almost def. the ruth fainlight one on thursday morning ... (wednesday night is meditation hahahaha) as far as i can see you dont need tickets ... but if you phone up the uni they would know... it looks like the organiser is called tony graves ... be good to see you at something tho drew ... last week i went to a poetry open mic thing at the castle rock cafe (next door to charlotte) which is monthly ... next one on march 18th or something ... might do a turn next time ...

De montefort Uni is just up the hill from the train station and on the right i think, i know it's signposted. about five- ten minutes walk or fifteen minutes by taxi if you're a stranger to the city.

I went to De Monfort when it was Leicester Polytechnic. If you go into the students union bar, in the far right hand corner from the main entrance, there's a stain on the wall which............. mmmmm perhaps that's a story best left alone............. [%sig%]
