Dogs Fetch Halloween Costumes for $200

HARTSDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Sure, anyone can go out trick-or-treating if they go to Walmart and buy a mass-produced costume. However, for $200, this group of pooches will run to Walmart for you. “We got tired of fetching sticks and balls, so we thought…why not make some money.” Said Bucky, the Black Labrador.
What began as a mixed group of abandoned dogs in the Hartsdale kennel, developed into a consortium of business dogs that have cornered the market here in Hartsdale. Tippy, a female Boston Terrier, came up with the idea one day at feeding time. She talked it over with Jake and Dog (nameless from birth), and they collectively decided to make a break for it when the keeper negligently left the cage door open one evening.
The local animal control authorities have been searching for the rouge fetchers for several weeks, but most have managed to avoid capture by holing up in wealthy families’ homes.
“The Dog being able to run to the grocery has saved me a lot of time and is very convenient” said Marge Bledsoe (not her real name) of 1654 West Elm Street (not her real address), phone 616-398-9903 (not her real phone number).
“I don’t know what I’d do without my escaped fetching shopper dog. I can sit at home on the couch and watch television, all I have to do is tell him to fetch… I can give the dog Monopoly money, he doesn’t know the difference. Dogs can’t read”
