Happy New Year.

2005-2008 were good years for me - I gave up drinking, drugs, smoking, lost any excessive weight and passed my driving test. I already save lots, spend thriftily and always walk up the stairs rather than take the lift. So, this year's resolution is to start my essays for my MA in good time and not be finishing them with hours to go until the deadline.

Styxbroox used to do amusing predictions for the New Year. In his absence, I enjoyed these: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/dec/28/political-prediction... jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

What a star you are, J! While eveyone else is doing their best trying not to fall back... you keep on getting better by the day! Few could have fought back from being so far behind the pack to being up front with the best of them. Your timing has been impeccable and, if you can continue as you are, then I'm betting you will finish in the money :O) Take care and be lucky!
Thanks M. I don't really do resolutions cos if one is going to change, then it would be today, whatever the date! I have had new life resolutions in February, Novemeber ... any time is good! That's why I think so many people fail in resolutions. IF they really meant it, they wouldn't wait until Jan 1st jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

Quite right Jude, I don't even know the date I decided to turn my life around. What I can say is, that since 2001, when I was last released into society, thigs have got better each year. Start your essays? That'll be difficult, in my experience, I cracked out a few, got well ahead and rested onmy laurels! 2008 has seen the start of something for me, it's been quite surreal the company I've kept. My prediction for 2009 is the founding of a new organisation to tackle criminal justice issues that will look at it in a new light and will be taken seriously by governemnt, opposition and already established penal groups.
